Our first city is one of our all-time favorite cities to visit, San Diego. There are very few cities anywhere in the world that offer the sunny weather, world-class beaches, urban-action, top restaurants, and other fun stuff to do.

We were just in SD this past Labor Day weekend, and we went to our usual places. So, I thought, why not memorialize our favorite places to visit in SD for our friends and fellow blog readers. You can't go wrong with this San Diego itinerary:

Del Mar --The Poseidon. Upon your arrival in San Diego, immediately drive to The Poseidon in Del Mar. We always start here. This restaurant sits right on the beach in Del Mar, just below 15th Street. Sit outside on the patio and you are literally on the beach, with full restaurant and bar service. Use their $3 Valet Parking - you don't have to hunt around for a parking - which can be hard to find, and you can walk on the beach after your time on their patio. This is a MUST-DO!.
La Jolla - Alfonso's. After leaving The Poseidon, drive South to La Jolla along the coastline. Find parking on/off Prospect Street. Walk around Prospect Street - check out the various art galleries. Our favorite restaurant to go to is Alfonso's - get their Carne Asada Burrito - the best in town, and they have excellent house margaritas.
Pacific Beach - Green Flash. When you are done driving South through La Jolla, head to PB and walk along the boardwalk. Head up to the Crystal Pier and watch the surfers. We always go to the Green Flash for breakfast. Supposedly, you can see a flash of green light right when the sun sets, just as the sun disappears below the horizon. I have only seen a Green Flash once, at Waikiki Beach in Oahu, but I've tried to see it many times.
Mission Beach - WaveHouse. After you have had fun hanging out in PB, head further South to Mission Beach and get an appetizer and drink at the WaveHouse and watch the surfers and boogie boarders on their wave machine. Cool outdoor bar setting right off the MB boardwalk. Highly recommended SD beach action.
